ISO Certification

An ISO certificate only means something if it’s issued by an accredited body and backed by a management system that actually works. We prepare the documentation; an accredited certifier issues the certificate.

Why Businesses Pursue It

ISO certification isn’t a UAE legal requirement, but it’s frequently a prerequisite in government and semi-government tenders, and increasingly expected by larger private-sector clients and banks as part of due diligence. Beyond eligibility, a properly implemented management system reduces the operational inconsistency that certification is meant to catch in the first place — it’s not just a certificate for the wall.

Which Standard Applies to You

ISO 9001

Quality management. The most widely requested standard, often required for tenders regardless of industry.

ISO 14001

Environmental management. Relevant for construction, manufacturing and businesses with a meaningful environmental footprint.

ISO 45001

Occupational health & safety. Common in construction and industrial settings, increasingly requested alongside 9001.

Consultant vs. Certification Body

Worth being clear about upfront: Hayakom prepares your documentation and management system and manages the certification body relationship — we don’t issue the certificate ourselves. Only an accredited certification body can conduct the audit and issue a valid ISO certificate. When you’re evaluating who to use, ask which accreditation body backs them (DAC, UKAS or IAS, for example) — certificates from unaccredited bodies carry far less weight with tender evaluators.

What Hayakom Handles

How It Works

1. Gap Assessment

We review your current processes against the target standard’s requirements.

2. Documentation

We help build the management system documentation and records the standard requires.

3. Internal Audit

We support an internal audit to confirm readiness before the external audit.

4. Certification Audit

We coordinate Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits with an accredited certification body through to certificate issuance.

The Certificate Isn't the End of It

Certification runs on a 3-year cycle with annual surveillance audits in between — miss one, and the certificate can lapse regardless of how well your systems are actually running. We track your surveillance schedule so a missed audit doesn’t undo work you’ve already put in.

Questions We Get Asked

What businesses evaluating ISO certification usually want to know first.

No, it’s not a general legal requirement, but many government tenders and corporate clients require it as a prerequisite for bidding or supplier approval.
A consultant (like Hayakom) prepares your documentation and management system. Only an accredited certification body can conduct the audit and issue the actual ISO certificate.
It depends on your current process maturity and the standard involved — smaller, process-ready businesses move faster than those starting documentation from scratch. We give a realistic timeline after the gap assessment.
Yes, an integrated management system covering multiple standards (e.g. 9001, 14001 and 45001 together) is common and often more efficient than certifying separately.
Yes — certificates typically run on a 3-year cycle with annual surveillance audits in between to keep the certification valid.
The certification body will identify non-conformities to correct; we help address these so you can proceed to (or repeat) the certification audit.
It affects scope and audit duration, but businesses of any size can be certified — the process scales to your operation.
ISO 9001 is a general quality management standard; some industries have additional sector-specific standards worth discussing depending on your tenders/clients’ requirements.
